Stars & Highlights of the Week 09.01.26

9th Jan 2026

It’s been a short week due to the snow, with school closed on Monday and Tuesday, but it was great to be back together and kick off the new year with such a positive start.

This week saw the return of swimming lessons for our P5/6 pupils, who were full of enthusiasm as they got back into the pool. We also took time for Adoration, giving pupils a calm and reflective moment as we begin a new term together.

There was lots of excitement when a P2 and P7 pupil brought in their new puppy, Max  — the children were absolutely delighted to meet him, and it’s safe to say he stole a few hearts!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre team for their time, support, and guidance in helping prepare our pupils for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Their faith-filled approach and commitment made a lasting impact, and our P7 pupils gained so much from the experience. We are very grateful for the care and inspiration they shared with our school community.

Our Primary 1 and 2 pupils enjoyed a special Toy Day, bringing in one toy they received for Christmas. Each child had the chance to talk about their toy, and they were proudly shared during assembly too — a lovely opportunity to build confidence and listening skills.

The children also enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year, discovering traditions and celebrations for the Year of the Horse through stories, discussion, and creative activities.

We also proudly celebrated our Stars of the Week, recognising pupils for their kindness, effort, and positive attitudes — well done to all our shining stars!

We hope all our families had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and we’re excited for everything the year ahead will bring!
