Stars & Highlihhts of the Week 27.03.2026

27th Mar 2026

This Week at St. Mary’s

It has been another busy and rewarding week across the school, filled with learning, achievement, and celebration. We proudly celebrated our Stars of the Week, recognising pupils for their effort, kindness, and positive attitudes.

Our pupils took part in a Rights Respecting Schools assembly led by Miss Quigg and our School Council, helping children learn more about their rights and how we show respect and fairness in our school community.

There was great excitement in the playground as children began using some of our new outdoor resources, with lots of creativity, teamwork, and fun on display. We are delighted to see these areas continuing to grow and develop.

We also enjoyed another fantastic Shared Education session — a big thank you to Feeny for hosting us. The children had a brilliant time learning and building friendships together.

A big thank you to Love for Life for their informative sessions with our P7 pupils.

Across the school, pupils have been working hard in Literacy and Numeracy, with fantastic achievements in Fast Phonics, Reading Eggs, and Accelerated Reading, including certificates for 5 or more 100% quizzes, most words read, and even our first Millionaire Reader!

We also celebrated success in Mathletics (Bronze through to Epic), Times Tables Rock Stars, and our weekly raffles recognising effort and progress. Pupils were recognised through ICT Awards, Top Effort Awards, PE Gymnastics Awards, and Healthy Eating Awards — a true reflection of the hard work happening across the school.

A special well done to our pupils who achieved fantastic swimming milestones this week — including P5 and P3 pupils passing their level 5 & 9, a Primary 3 pupil reaching Level 6, and our Primary 7 pupils continuing to develop their life-saving swimming skills.

And finally, we celebrated a very special birthday — Miss Doherty’s! We hope you had a lovely day filled with smiles and celebrations.

Also wishing very happy birthday to our wonderful student classroom assistant — the big hugs say it all! The children absolutely love her, and we hope she had a brilliant day.

Another fantastic week at St. Mary’s — well done to everyone, and we hope you all have a lovely weekend!
