Stars & Highlights of the Week!
This Week at St. Mary’s
Our Primary 1 pupils began their longer days, staying until 2 pm for the first time — they’ve settled in so well and we’re so proud of how confidently they’ve adjusted. We also celebrated our Whole School Mass
Our after-school clubs continued to be a huge success, with children taking part in:
- Combat Kids (P3–P7)
- Lego Club (P3–P4)
- Art & Crafts (P5–P7)
- Mindful Drawing (P3–P4)
- Football Club (P5–P7)
The laughter, teamwork, and creativity on display each afternoon has been wonderful to see!
Friday – Hello Yellow & Drum Day
We ended the week on a high with our World Mental Health Day – “Hello Yellow” celebrations. Pupils came to school dressed in yellow to show support for mental-health awareness, and we also cheered on the Drum Senior Camogie team ahead of their big game — best of luck to the girls tomorrow!
Classes enjoyed a refreshing well-being walk in Gortnaghey Park, taking time to talk, laugh, and reflect on what helps them feel happy and calm. It was a lovely reminder of how important it is to care for our mental health, be kind to ourselves, and support one another.
Our Book Fair was another huge hit this week — the children were full of excitement as they browsed the shelves, eager to pick their new reads.
We were proud to celebrate more achievements too:
- Two pupils received their pen licences for beautiful handwriting
- Our Stars of the Week were announced, recognised for their hard work, kindness, and determination
- A Primary 1 pupil named our Owl of Independence “Flappy” — a perfect name for such a wise little mascot!
What a fantastic week of positivity, teamwork, and learning — well done to all our pupils and staff for everything they’ve achieved.
