Stars & Highlights of the Week 06.06.2025

6th Jun 2025

It’s been another wonderful week in school, full of proud moments and new achievements! Our Stars of the Week shone brightly again—well done to all those recognised for their brilliant effort, independence, and positive attitude.

A very exciting moment for Primary 1 and 2 this week, as they set their butterflies—Bella-Bella, Rose, Butter, Coconut, and Jimmy-Joe—free into the world! The children have cared for them with such dedication, from tiny eggs to fluttering wings, and it was heartwarming to watch them take flight. With a little help from our creative Primary 5 pupils (who also helped with the all-important naming), it was a joyful end to a very special journey.

We also had some fantastic moments of confidence and celebration in class: a Primary 2 boy proudly brought in his medal to show all his classmates—well done! And a big shout-out to one of our Primary 1 pupil, who bravely stood up and read a story aloud to the whole class with incredible expression and confidence.

Primary 6 and 7 had an unforgettable day out at Stendhal, soaking up art, music, and outdoor creativity. From exploring interactive installations to enjoying live performances and hands-on workshops, the children embraced every moment. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the arts in a vibrant, open-air setting—an inspiring and fun-filled experience for all!

Primary 7 took part in the Fan the Flame celebration at Celtic Park—an uplifting day filled with faith, friendship, and fun. Joined by schools from across the diocese. They proudly wore specially made T-shirts for the occasion, adding an extra sense of excitement and unity to this memorable day!

We were delighted to welcome Caoimhe Archibald MLA to our school on Friday, alongside Councillor Kathleen McGurk and our Chair of Governors, Julie McCullagh. Our fantastic Primary 7 pupils represented the school brilliantly—sharing their thoughts, asking thoughtful questions, and showing great pride in St Mary’s. Dr Archibald listened to our concerns around essential building improvements and school access, and she has pledged her support in helping move these forward. A big thank you to everyone involved in advocating for our growing school community.

A brilliant week for everyone—well done!
