Stars & Highlights of the Week 16.01.2026

16th Jan 2026

It’s been another busy and enjoyable week across the school!

The children took part in skills testing and really enjoyed their PE sessions, showing great effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork throughout.

Across the school, pupils are beginning some exciting new topics. Primary 1/2 have started learning about the Polar Regions, exploring animals, habitats, and life in cold climates. Primary 3/4 are diving into the world of the Vikings, discovering how they lived and travelled. Primary 5/6 have begun How It’s Made, investigating materials, their properties and states, and how everyday objects are created. Primary 7 are exploring Inventions and Ingenuity, learning about ideas, innovation, and how inventions have shaped the modern world.

Our Digital Leaders also took part in a training session this week, developing their skills and learning how to support digital learning across the school. Well done to all involved!

We were delighted to welcome past pupils from St Patrick’s to St. Mary’s, accompanied by their Acting Principal, Mr McMullan. Thank you for taking the time to visit us — it was lovely to see you all.

Our Shared Education continued this week, giving pupils more opportunities to learn and work alongside others, building friendships and confidence.

There was also plenty of outdoor play, with children making the most of fresh air and active time together. Across the school, pupils have been taking part in a Healthy Eating Challenge, earning a tick for each healthy snack they bring in each day. Class totals are added up at the end of the week, and the competition is very close! We are so proud of the effort our pupils are making, from choosing nutritious snacks to supporting our Eco Shop — it’s lovely to see such positive habits developing across the school.

We also send a very happy birthday to our wonderful staff members Samantha and Miss Quigg — we hope you both had a lovely celebration!

And of course, we proudly celebrated our Stars of the Week, recognising pupils for their effort, kindness, and positive attitudes.

We hope everyone has a lovely, restful weekend!
