News & Highlights of the Week 24.04.2026
This Week at St. Mary’s
It has been another busy and positive week across the school, with plenty of learning, celebration, and fun along the way. We proudly celebrated our Stars of the Week, recognising pupils for their effort, kindness, and positive attitudes.
A very special milestone was reached as some of our pupils celebrated their First Confession — a lovely and meaningful moment in their faith journey.
Our pupils have also enjoyed a range of activities this week. Skill School brought golf sessions to the children, while our P5/6 pupils had a fantastic Shared Education trip to Extreme Bounce with St Canice’s, Feeny and Drumrane — a great opportunity for fun, teamwork, and building friendships.
We marked Earth Day, encouraging pupils to think about caring for our environment.
On Thursday all pupils developed their understanding of Financial Capability by taking part in the Ulster Bank Thrive programme, gaining important knowledge about money and everyday life skills. They explored topics such as saving, needs and wants spending, and making sensible choices, helping them to build confidence in managing money now and in the future.
Our Primary 7 pupils continued learning about bike safety, developing important skills to keep safe and confident.
We finished the week with Autism Awareness Day, where the children took part in a fun danceathon, celebrating inclusion, understanding, and support for all. Thank you for all sponsorship again the generosity of our community has been amazing, a final total will be shared next week. There was great excitement when a P7 pupil and his mum brought a pet lamb to meet us all, thank you, the children loved petting and learning about him.
Well done to all our stars this week and children who shared celebrations outside of school - a P7 girl who was voted player of the year in Gaelic football, a P6 boy who played at the half time games in Celtic park, a P6 boy who has achieved another level at swimming, P7 girl who took part and placed very highly in dance championships in Bundoran - well done to all!
With the sun shining all week, it has been a brilliant few days at St. Mary’s - we hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
