News & Highlights of The Week 17.04.26

17th Apr 2026

This Week at St. Mary’s

It has been lovely to welcome everyone back after the Easter break, with pupils settling straight back into school life.

The children have been making great use of our outdoor play areas, enjoying the new resources as we continue to build and develop our playground spaces. It’s wonderful to see so much creativity, teamwork, and fun outdoors.

We also gathered for Adoration, giving pupils a calm and reflective moment together.

Our P3/4 pupils attended their final Shared Education session at Trix in Ballykelly - a big thank you to St Canice’s, Feeny and Drumrane for hosting. The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the experience.

In PE, pupils have been busy with a range of activities, including fitness, dodgeball, and GAA. Our Primary 7 pupils also took part in a session on bike safety with Miss Donnelly, learning important skills to keep safe.

Our Primary 1/2 pupils have been busy growing sunflowers, carefully planting and looking after them as they begin to grow - a lovely hands-on way to learn about nature and responsibility.

Meanwhile, our Primary 5/6 pupils have been developing their creativity through sewing with Miss Quigg, designing their own pieces and bringing them to life. It has been fantastic to see their ideas take shape and their confidence grow with each stitch.

We proudly celebrated our Stars of the Week, as well as some of our Primary 2 pupils who received Mathletics certificates - well done to all!

Finally, best of luck to our Primary 6 pupil who will be playing at half-time during the Derry vs Antrim match this weekend - we can’t wait to hear all about it!

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
