Events, stars of the week and celebrations - week ending 20th February 2026
What a fantastic and uplifting week we have had celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week in our school community!
Throughout the week, pupils enjoyed a wide range of activities designed to promote wellbeing, connection and positivity. Our Daily Mile kept everyone active, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm on display – a special thank you to Miss Donnelly for keeping spirits high and encouraging those extra laps!
A huge well done to our P1/2 class who won the Lap Challenge this week — a fantastic achievement! They were delighted to receive reflector snap bands to help keep them safe while out and about.
To support balance and wellbeing, there was no homework this week, allowing families valuable time together. KS2 pupils benefited from an engaging Cyber Pals workshop delivered by Dry Arch, promoting online safety and positive digital habits.
We also marked important moments in our school calendar. Pupils attended Mass to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. Pancakes were enjoyed across the school, adding a little extra joy to the week.
Our P1/2 class had a wonderful first Shared Education session at Gortnaghey Primary School. The children participated in sports activities with R9, Zumba with Charlene, and indoor play, building friendships and confidence in a fun and welcoming environment.
Well done to our four P7 girls who proudly represented the school at the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz in Maghera – we are very proud of you! Pupils also took part in hedge planting with Hedgerow Heroes, contributing positively to our school environment.
Congratulations to our Stars of the Week, who demonstrated outstanding skill, bravery and commitment to their learning. We are so proud of the effort and determination shown across all year groups. Well done to our Irish dancing sister who proudly showed their trophies and pictures with their friends.
A very happy birthday to Martin, our dedicated caretaker, it was our turn to spoil him on Friday and the children loved making cards and gifts for him! Thank you to everyone who embraced our Friday non-uniform day theme, “Come as Yourself” – a wonderful reminder to celebrate individuality.
Thank you to all pupils, staff and families for making this such a busy, vibrant and meaningful week in our school. Your enthusiasm and support continue to make our school community so special.
